Art
Art is the heart of every Burn. One of the original inspirations for Burning Man was to take art out of the gallery setting and bring it directly into the heart of the community. We strongly support all forms of artwork and expression and we hope each Participant finds a way to express themselves in a unique and beautiful way. We strongly encourage interactive pieces and exhibits as well!
Art of any kind is welcome 2-d, 3-d, 4-d!. You may set up your artwork in the field surrounding the effigy, or near your own camp. You may register your art ahead of time or at the gate upon arrival. If you are preregistered you can request or receive priority placement. If you register at the event you will be directed to the available areas. There is plenty of space at Reclaim and we would love to fill it up with more artwork! If you wish to burn your art you must do so in the inner circle, and your must state you plan to burn your art when you register your art so accommodations can be made.
To Preregister your piece, email us at sn.participate@gmail.com.
Art Grants
This year we are excited to announce that we will once again be offering financial assistance to qualified projects! The application process is simple, you will send your project proposal with an estimated budget and designs to Ol'Bill (Burning Man Regional Contact in Athens). He will then review the proposals and find the best prepared and most fitting projects for our event. The amount of grants we can hand out will depend on how successful our fundraising is until the event. More information on grants can be found on the Grants page.
Performance Art and Live Music
Live performances are a major part of any festival and we would love for you to share your talents with our community. There is one permanent structure on site which is a large stage. This could be utilized for live performances if requested. However there is no power source on site, so you must provide your own power, lighting and sound equipment if needed. Performances can happen anywhere though, in your camp, in the field, at the gate, so don't feel confined to a stage. We will not be scheduling performances, but we will be creating an onsite What When Where guide that you can include you performance information in if you like. Preregistered performances will be listed on the Events page as they arrive.
