Grants - Please Note Extended Deadlines Below

Scorched Nuts Art Grants are intended to encourage people to produce art projects for the festival.  Since we are in  our second year, and still small, the funds for grants are limited.  We encourage anyone who can to donate to the Art Grant Fund. Grants will probably be relatively small. At this time it appears that a typical grant will be $200 or less, so they will not cover the entire budget for many projects.

At this time there are no specific guidelines concerning what types of projects are more likely to be funded and all projects are welcome.  If you have questions about possible funding for your project, please email Ol' Bill at Artgrants@scorchednuts.com or by completing the contact form and select Attention: Art Grants.

The deadline for submissions is midnight April 15, 2008 and awards will be announced and funds disbursed on May 1, 2008.

Art grant funds will be disbursed as follows:    
Half of the award will be disbursed immediately when the awards are announced on May 1.     

The other half of the award will be disbursed immediately after the event, following
a.  the successful completion of the project at the event, and
b.  the successful "leave no trace" cleanup of the project at the close of the event.  

APPLICATION PROCESS

We want to keep the application process as simple as possible.  Hopefully the process outlined below will provide enough information to allow us to evaluate applications fairly, without making the application process so difficult that it discourages people.  We anticipate that we will contact applicants during the judging process if we need further information. 

 Applications should be submitted by email to Artgrants@scorchednuts.com and should be no longer than two standard typewritten pages if possible.

APPLICATIONS SHOULD INCLUDE - IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER:

1. CONTACT INFORMATION - who or what group is presenting the proposal, and an email address and phone number by which we can contact you.
2. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT - suggested length two pages or less with diagrams and/or pictures attached if helpful.
3. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (IF ANY) - electrical hookups, unusual space requirements, etc.
4. TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST OR BUDGET
5. THE AMOUNT OF THE GRANT YOU ARE APPLYING FOR.

NON-FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Scorched Nuts and the Ohio Burning Man community are committed to encouraging artistic participation in our events.  In addition to financial support we may be able to provide non-financial assistance.  Possibly assistance includes, but is not limited to technical help, assistance with transporting projects to the event and setup, advice on what to expect at the event, etc.  If you have need assistance or have questions along these lines, contact our Grants Coordinator by  by completing the contact form and select Attention: Art Grants.
